Jazz by the Beach

Jazz music is known to have a calming effect on your body, helping to relax your breathing and heart rate. It improves your mood and makes you feel good. As you undertake your wellness journey in Zentosa Fest, take time out to listen to Jeremy Monteiro, Melissa Tham and the Showtime Jazz Ensemble, and Flame of the Forest, in Jazz by the Beach.

Pianist, organist, composer and arranger Jeremy Monteiro needs no introduction. When you think of jazz music in Singapore, his name is one of the first that springs to mind. Another is singer-songwriter Melissa Tham, whose rich, emotive vocals have made jazz music more accessible to Singaporeans. She will be performing with the ShowTime Jazz Ensemble in Jazz by the Beach.

In jazz music, improvisation plays an important part and Flame of the Forest’s instrumental music incorporates styles from jazz music and other music genres. The band brings together a wide range of ideas and concepts with their understanding of Indian Classical and Folk music. It creates a blend of music that refreshes and perks the mind.

Paper Puppet Workshop

Create your own moving paper puppet

Design and create a paper puppet made with simple shapes that can move its arms and legs to reflect the body movements that we do to promote wellness. Our Instructors will teach you how to draw and paint your puppets with your favourite shades in acrylic paint before we cut and assemble our puppets together.

Eliciting your creative self on a mural

Leave a piece of your creative self on a 10 metre wall on Palawan Green. In our mural painting workshops, participants will learn about the creation process, painting tips and tricks and experience painting large scale murals alongside our mural artists as we paint in the unfinished colour coded designs on the huge wall mural.
